PV Inverters Customer Requirements and Opinions Survey – World - 2013
Date: 19 December 2012

IMS Research has published a report based on its second global survey of PV inverter purchasers. The survey report has been undertaken to enable inverter suppliers to gain further insight into the decision making process of their customers.

The survey was created following consultation with PV inverter suppliers and covers a variety of topics including brand, inverter choice, product features, microinverters & power optimisers, future requirements, service & warranty and inverter pricing. The report covers multiple geographic regions and responses are analysed by country and customer type.

The report analyses responses to a huge range of survey questions.

Some of the key questions to be answered by the report are:

  • What are the key factors that affect the customer’s choice of supplier? Which brands are preferred?
  • How much additional cost would customers be willing to pay for higher efficiency and higher uptime?
  • What are the most important product features considered when purchasing an inverter?
  • What are the main reasons for purchasing a microinverter and DC-DC power optimizers? What are the main reasons not to?
  • Will customers require energy storage integrated into inverters in the future?
  • Which PV inverter suppliers offer the most attractive service and warranty plans?
  • What are customers opinions of low-cost Chinese inverters?
